Electric vehicle batteries and industrial batteries have, since 2025 and 2026 respectively, been required to declare their carbon footprint.
From 18 February 2027, all batteries will require a digital product passport accessible via a QR code, containing a unique identifier, chemical composition, percentage of recycled material, state of health (SoH) and end-of-life destination.
